CAMBODIA
Clothing Manufacturers Making a Difference
Avodah's sewing centre in Cambodia employs vulnerable and at risk women and their families.
It was established in 2016 to provide support for the SHE Rescue homes in Phnom Penh -safe havens for children and young women who have been involved in trafficking or are vulnerable.
The sewing centre equips survivors and local women with safe employment and ongoing garment manufacturing training; teaching them how to produce products for custom orders for businesses around the globe.
Outworkers join Avodah’s network to lease or own a sewing machine so that they can work at home in the rural villages.
What Clarion Does
Seed capital
We provided seed capital for Avodah’s sewing center to hire and train rescued sex-trafficked women and to purchase equipment and raw materials for the manufacture of high quality finished garments for several Australian retail brands.
Educational and counselling services
We introduced a local faith-based organisation to provide educational and counselling services for the local employees.
